Numbers 9 – God’s Positioning System

Good evening y’all. I’ve finally caught up with backlog of blogging :). This blog is on Numbers chapter 9. Be blessed 🙂

Moses said, “Wait here while I go into the sacred tent and find out what the Lord says about this.” (Numbers 9:8 CEVUS06)

Moses found himself in a situation he was unfamiliar with. He had never known of anyone celebrating Passover without being ceremonially unclean. The Israelites had every right to partake in the passover and when they came to meet Moses, he could have easily replied them saying “yes you should be okay to celebrate” but I love what Moses response was. He didn’t assume on God’s behalf, rather he went to seek God’s face concerning the issue.

Often times we assume things on God’s behalf rather than asking Him to confirm what He wants us to do (I’m guilty of this offence so many times! 😦 ).  We shouldn’t just assume what He wants from us, rather we should take time out to seek His face.

If we seek God, we will find Him, just as He promised. He will never leave us stranded. We can save ourselves a lot of heartache when we learn to take a leaf from Moses’ book.

It’s one thing to seek God’s opinion and it’s another thing to carry out His response: especially when His response is not desirable. May God give us the grace to be obedient to Him even when it’s not convenient for us, in Jesus’ Name I pray.  Amen.

In addition, the Israelites only left, or remained, in a location when God instructs them so. God led them by day as a cloud and at night as fire: they only broke camp whenever the pillar cloud or fire moved. God was basically their GPS system. They never got tired of following the GPS of God or at any point ever thought they knew better than their GPS system. This is obedience taken to another level…lol. They demonstrated total dependance and reliance on God.

Who is your GPS system: God or yourself or your TomTom?

How much easier and sweeter would our lives be if only we would allow God to be the One directing and leading us? If we would surrender and give the control over to him.

He knows it all. He created everything. He knows what’s best for us. So why not let Him take the wheel?

Proverbs tells us not to lean on our understanding.

With all your heart you must trust the Lord and not your own judgment.  Always let him lead you, and he will clear the road for you to follow”. (Proverbs 3:5-6 CEVUS06)

Psalmist tell us that those who put their trust in God will not be put to shame.

No one who trusts in you will ever be disgraced, but disgrace comes to those who try to deceive others. Show me the right path, O  lord ; point out the road for me to follow. Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you”. (Psalms 25:3-5 NLT)

Today why don’t you hand over the control to God?  Ask for grace to ‘trust and obey’ Him completely.

Prayer:
Dear Lord, we thank You for today. We thank You for Your love towards us. We ask You for forgiveness for all the times we have been disobedient. We also pray that Your Holy Spirit may help us obey and trust You. Lord, we hand over control of our lives to You. Please direct and lead us. Thank You, dear Lord, in Jesus’ Name we have prayed. Amen.

Thank you for joining today.

Have a wonderful evening basking in God’s goodness 🙂

Leviticus 21 – Set apart as Holy

Good afternoon y’all. Today we are studying Leviticus 21.

Be blessed 🙂

Reading through the chapter, it dawned on me that holiness is not a choice, it’s a command from God. It’s what we have been called into as Christians; and it’s essential if we truly want to serve God in spirit and in truth.

“They must be set apart as holy to their God and must never bring shame on the name of God. (Leviticus 21:6a NLT)

God’s desire is for us to be sanctified and set apart for His use. He told the priests that they are to be set apart and holy for Him and they mustn’t do anything to bring shame or dishonor to His name.

This applies to us as well.1 Peter 2:9 tells us “But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light”. (NLT)

We are priests as well and God’s will for us is to be holy and set apart for His use. 1 Thessalonians 4:3 confirms this –
“God’s will is for you to be holy….”(NLT)

We mustn’t indulge in anything that will contaminate us or bring shame to the name of God. Our lives should portray Jesus in everything we say and do. There shouldn’t be any form of ambiguity that would make people question God or make them dishonor Him, based on the way we live our lives.

“No one who has a defect qualifies, whether he is blind, lame, disfigured, deformed, or has a broken foot or arm, or is hunchbacked or dwarfed, or has a defective eye, or skin sores or scabs, or damaged testicles. No descendant of Aaron who has a defect may approach the altar to present special gifts to the lord . Since he has a defect, he may not approach the altar to offer food to his God. However, he may eat from the food offered to God, including the holy offerings and the most holy offerings”. (Leviticus 21:18-22 NLT)

The priests had to be without defect. Any that had defect wasn’t allowed to minister. Though God still included them by ensuring they get to share in the meals reserved for the priests.

Thanks to Jesus, now we can all come in including those of us with physical defects. We are all included in Christ. We can boldly approach the throne of grace. Hallelujah!!!

“….You must consider them holy because I, the lord , am holy, and I make you holy”. (Leviticus 21:8b NLT)

“…I am the lord who makes them holy.” (Leviticus 21:23 NLT)

We need to understand holiness is not something we can achieve on our own.  God said to the priests; ‘I make you holy’.  This tells me we need God’s help to live a holy life. We need to yield and work in agreement with His Spirit so we can daily live a life that is holy and pleasing before Him.

Holiness should be what we long for every second, minute, hour, day of our lives.

Prayer:
Dear God thank You for the privilege to know You. Please help us live holy and not do anything that will bring shame or dishonor to Your Name. Help us get rid of the sins that contaminate us and give us grace to yield fully to Your Spirit at all times. Thank You dear Lord. In Jesus’ Name we’ve prayed. Amen.
