Acts 3 – The power in the name…

Good evening y’all. Apologies today’s blog is coming pretty late.

We are in chapter 3 of Acts.

In this chapter we see the apostles perform their 1st miracle after being filled with the Holyspirit.

Be blessed 🙂

I’ve tried to summarise the points that I picked up from the chapter.

– Peter and John could have easily met the lame man’s physical need by giving him alms. That would have been an easy thing to do and they would have carried on to their prayer meeting but instead they chose to give the man something of eternal value. They saw beneath his physical need to his spiritual need. Don’t get me wrong their is nothing wrong in meeting people’s physical needs but at the same time we should also try to meet their spiritual needs.

I pray we make the most of opportunities to introduce people to Jesus and allow Him perform miracles through us.

– You can’t give what you don’t have. Peter and John could perform the miracle because they had a relationship with Jesus. They’ve experienced His transforming power in their lives, that’s why they could share Him with the man.

– Notice the healing was done in the name of Jesus and not by any other name. It’s only the name of Jesus that has such power to heal, save and deliver.

– Peters speech after the healing was humble. He could have easily become proud seeing as he just gave a lame man his healing. But Peter knew too well that the glory was not for Him but for God. For it was definately God who did the work. He was just an instrument in Gods hands.
I pray we never get carried away with pride when God begins to use us to do signs and wonders to the glory of His name.

Thanks for joining. Pls feel free to leave your thots on the chapter.

Have a blessed evening 🙂
