Leviticus 8 – Obedience is Key

Good evening y’all. Today we are in chapter 8 of Leviticus

There were few points I observed while reading the chapter. I am going to use the SOAK method for each point.

In case you are wondering what SOAK means: 

S stands for Scripture
O stands for Observation
A stands for Application
K stands for Kneel in prayer

S1) V 9, 13, 17, 21 and 29

O1) Moses did everything as the Lord commanded Him. He was fully obedient to God’s instruction. He didn’t deviate one bit from what He was instructed.  Basically, he followed the instruction to the letter

A1) How obedient are we to Gods instructions? Do we only obey the bits that seem convenient for us and ignore the rest? God desires total (and not partial) obedience from us. Jesus said if you love me you will obey me. Obedience is a sign of our love for God.

K1) Dear Lord pls give us grace to do all that you have asked of us. In Jesus Name, Amen

S2) : Next Moses took some of the anointing oil and some of the blood that was on the altar, and he sprinkled them on Aaron and his garments and on his sons and their garments. In this way, he made Aaron and his sons and their garments holy (Lev 8: 30 NLT)

Moses took some of the anointing oil and some of the blood from the Altar and sprinkled Aaron and his garments, and his sons and their garments, consecrating Aaron and his garments and his sons and their garments. (Lev 8: 30 MSG)

O2) The priests were consecrated by the sprinkling of blood to make them holy and fit for use

A2) In the same way the blood of Jesus consecrates us, makes us holy and worthy to be used by God.  God cannot use a vessel that’s unholy. It has to be holy 2 Timothy 2: 21 says

“If you keep yourself pure, you will be a special utensil for honorable use. Your life will be clean, and you will be ready for the Master to use you for every good work”.(2 Tim 2:21 NLT)

K2) Thank you Jesus for your blood that was shed for us.  Through it we have victory over sin and can come boldly before God. We ask you consecrate and sanctify us for your use oh Lord. In Jesus Name, Amen

S3) So Aaron and his sons did everything the Lord had commanded through Moses.(Lev 8: 36 NLT)

O3) Aaron and his sons did as the Lord commanded them through Moses. They obeyed and respected the authority of God in the life of Moses. They weren’t too proud to obey the instructions. They obeyed completely as well.

A3) How obedient are we to instructions passed to us by God’s servants? Do we obey or ignore them? Do we respect the authority of God in their lives.
A word of caution though, we have to test every instruction against the word of God because there are many false prophets out there today asking people to do things that are contrary to God’s word. May God help us be able to discern right from wrong.

K3) God pls help us to be obedient to the instructions you send us through your servants.

S4) “Now stay at the entrance of the Tabernacle day and night for seven days, and do everything the Lord requires. If you fail to do this, you will die, for this is what the Lord has commanded”. (Lev 8: 35 NLT)

O4) There are dire consequences when we disobey God. Aaron and his sons were told to obey what God commanded them, failure to do so was death.

A4) Same with us, when we disobey God willingly, we are gradually killing ourselves spiritually and sometimes there are also physical consequences for our disobedience., Romans 6 tells us that the wages of sin is death.

K4) God give us grace to obey you wholly. Deliver us from presumptuous and willful sins. Pls do not let them have control over us. In Jesus Name Amen
