Good evening y’all. We are continuing in our study of Leviticus. We are in chapter 3 today 🙂
Today’s chapter is about the peace offering. Some versions refer to this as “offering of thanksgiving” or fellowship offering
Be blessed 🙂
“When anyone wants to give an offering of thanksgiving to the Lord, he may use either a bull or a cow, but the animal must be entirely without defect if it is to be offered to the Lord! (Lev 3: 1 TLB)
“If you present an animal from the herd as a peace offering to the Lord, it may be a male or a female, but it must have no defects”.(Lev 3:1 NLT)
“When any of you offer one of your cattle as a fellowship offering, it is to be a bull or a cow without any defects”. (Lev 3:1 GNT)
For the Israelite in those days (I’m assuming) this was their way of thanking God that He is no longer angry with them and are in fellowship with Him. They have peace with him and their fellow brethren.
So what did I learn from the chapter today? For me, it was more of gratitude to God for sending Jesus to die for me. Because of His sacrifice, I enjoy peace, favor and fellowship with God. He is my peace offering and now I can come boldly before God and even call Him, Abba Father. What a privilege and honor that is !!!
“For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity. And He came and preached peace to you who were afar off and to those who were near. For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father ( Ephesians 2: 14-18 NKJV)
I will leave us with Hebrews 13:15
“By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name”
Thanks for joining today. Pls feel free to leave your thoughts on the chapter.
Have a blessed evening.
